The secrets of successful people all depends on how you define success. Is it money, fame and recognition? Career, position and respect? Family, marriage and love? Maybe you define it as being able to follow your passions and dreams, or even simpler, happiness. How about a combination of all of the above? Is that success?
Even the word “success” can be subjective and transient for individuals. However you define it, does it always seem like an unattainable goal for you and so easy for others?
How many times have you assumed that someone’s success was based on who they knew, pure luck and happened over night? I know I have been guilty of that a few times too. And while there may be a few instances where those things may have been the cause, more often than not, the opposite is true. We like to believe that the above statement is the secret to success because we want to believe in “easy” success.
The secret to success is simple, you have to define it for yourself first. Everything after that, is really hard.

Very true Elena, all of them.
Very true, and really good to remember these things. #blogsharelearn
With each sentence I read at the end, my heart became lighter and lighter.
Thank you for reminding me of this. xoxoxo
I love this post Elena. Every skill I have is the result of a challenge, which gives a whole new spin on obstacles doesn’t it? Thank you for making us all stop and think.

Awwww. The person in the mirror :; lovely!
Each of these observations is so spot on, Elena. Successful people really do make their own “luck.” No magic, just perseverance, hard work and belief in yourself. Great post!
Show me a person that believes in themselves and I’ll show you a person who sets goals and follows through. – so true. What makes us believe in ourselves is seeing what we can accomplish.
I so agree with all of these Elena – nobody succeeds by sitting on their bottoms envying others – it’s trial and error, pus and pain and some good times thrown in that make us proud of ourselves.
Yes! So right you are Elena! Inspiring.
Very well written, thank you!
All so true, there is no overnight success. I’m going to roll up my sleeves higher.
Very inspiring!
Its so true, Elena. There are no shortcuts. Whatever success means for each of us, it comes with lots of work and lessons and sweat. But if we keep at it, it will come. I believe that.
Very encouraging. Thank you 🙂
Wise words, indeed, Elena.
Show me a person that never quits and I’ll show you a person that has been told “no” a lot. The old Marine adage, fall down 7 get up 8, holds true in making dreams come true.
Excellent post and so very true. Thanks
Thanks Elena. Quite often, we see the success of others and have no idea what they’ve had to push through in order to get there. Great reminders … and inspiration to keep pushing through.
So very true. Every skill I have is the result of having to overcome an obstacle, being told I couldn’t or needing to learn how. Great post, Elena.

This is a great way to stay humble in all things and a great reminder to keep oneself from becoming resentful or envious of others. Thanks for sharing this!
Thankyou for this. Many times people look at others’ lives and think they’ve had great luck, when really, they’ve worked hard.
