As a woman in my late 40’s, taking care of my skin is much more of a priority than it was 20 years ago. Duh. My complexion isn’t looking as dewy as it used to. Lines are showing up around my eyes and mouth. Sigh….
Well, I’m going to punch old age in the face and fight it every step of the way. And, one of my goals is to do that without breaking the bank.
I don’t know about you, but nothing makes me more mad than spending a lot of money on skin care products and they turn out to be kinda…meh. Skin care products can get expensive quickly, so if you’re “trying by buying”, the process can get pricey.
Plus, there are SOOO many of them out there, and it’s hard to know when you’re reading about a product on Google if it’s a company feeding you a line of B-S, or if it really does work.
So, this is what I use and what I like. I’m not a dermatologist or anything like that. I’m a 47 year old working mom, and this is what I use. I found three products I LOVE…and they aren’t expensive.

First up is Philosophy Purity Made Simple One-Step Facial Cleanser. It’s light to the touch when you place it on your fingers, and the scent isn’t overpowering. When you start rubbing it on your face, it lathers up a bit – not too much. The best thing of all, when you rinse your face, it doesn’t feel sticky. It leaves your face feeling soft and clean.
Second up is St. Ives Even & Bright Face Scrub Pink Lemon and Mandarin Orange. I’ve learned over the years that exfoliating your skin daily is a must. It keeps your complexion from getting dull and gray looking. Ew. After I wash my face, I put a pea-sized dollop (maybe a tad bit more) on my fingers and rub it all over my face. I make sure to get my neck too – can’t forget about your neck! Also, it isn’t harsh on your skin. I’ve used some scrubs in the past that feel like your putting lacerations all over your face. Yuck.
Last up is Josie Maran’s Argan Oil . Or as I like to call it, liquid magic. You don’t need much each time you apply it to your face, so the little bottle goes a long way. This oil is perfect for mid-aged skin since you start to lose so much moisture in your face as you get older. Just squeeze a few drops on your finger and apply the oil to your cheeks. Then, use 1 -2 drops on your forehead. It feels fantastic.
If you use these products together, I promise, your face will feel so soft and smooth. Be sure to put on your favourite moisturizer with sunscreen after cleansing your skin in the morning and you are ready to go!
