Thinking about and envisioning a goal can sometimes be just as important as taking action to achieve it. A vision board is a brilliant way to manifest your dreams and display it where you can see it, allowing you to look at it every day.
What is a Vision Board?
A vision board is a collage of your goals and dreams, consisting of pictures and motivational words, displayed in an aesthetically pleasing way. Each vision board is unique to the individual, they can be as large or small as you like, and can be changed and updated depending on how your goals develop or change. They are perfect for setting intentions and manifesting your ambitions of what you want to achieve, being able to focus on your current lifestyle choices and how you wish to progress.
Here are some tips for creating the perfect vision board

Work out your goals
Create a list of what it is that you want to work towards. Include everything you can think of, from the almost imperceivable, to the small daily habits you may want to develop. Once you’ve finished, prioritize this list – what is it that you want the most? By prioritizing, you can ensure that the most important things are included on your vision board first.
Create a collection of beautiful images and words
Using the list that you have just created, find images and words that best represent the vision you have in your mind. You can do this by cutting things out of magazines or newspapers, or find them online and print them off.
Arrange the images and words
These can be arranged according to your own preference. You can glue these onto a specific board, or pin onto a cork board, or even do a spread in a paper bullet journal. Remember to arrange them first before sticking anything down! You might find that that you are inspired as you arrange them and you don’t need all of the images you have found.
Don’t focus just on material things
When starting their vision board, many people will fill it with pictures of expensive items and materialistic possessions that they wish to own. Whilst these things would of course be lovely to have, try focusing on how you want to feel. Value happiness and personal growth and achievement over owning that designer handbag or fancy sports car. Shifting your perspective will make you feel more fulfilled, and will lessen the chance of you being disappointed if in a years’ time you don’t have a brand new designer handbag in your garage.
Be realistic
It is a waste of time to create a vision board that is centred around completely reinventing yourself overnight. Be prepared to be realistic in your goals and not to be overly ambitious with your goals. Of course, you should aim for the life you want to lead, but just be mindful of not setting yourself up for disappointment.
Put your vision board somewhere you will see it
What use is a vision board that you don’t see? The purpose of the board is for you to see it and be reminded daily of what you working towards. Find the perfect place in your home for your board, somewhere it will be able to do its job of inspiring and motivating you.
Don’t be afraid to update it
Over time, your goals may change and so you should make sure to tweak and adjust your vision board accordingly. Your board should always be representative of what you are aspiring towards, and if your board doesn’t feature inspiration for your new goals then it can’t do its job. With this in mind, you might want to leave some blank space on your board so you can add to it whenever you need.
Whether your goals are big or small, creating a vision board is a fantastic way to help you achieve them!
