Can I Use Water Instead of Milk

If you don’t want to use milk, go right ahead and use water instead. Or if you need a milk replacement you can go that route as well.

The key is to just making sure the liquid is hot, as it needs to melt down the chocolate.

Storing Your Hot Chocolate Bombs

The hot chocolate bombs can be made and stored for 2 weeks at room temperature. Now, if your home is hot, and you are worried about the chocolate melting place them in the fridge.

You can also freeze the hot chocolate bombs, for up to 3 months. If you plan to freeze, leave the cotton candy off the top, as it will break down once it is frozen.

Then allow the hot chocolate bombs to warm up at room temperature before you try and melt one.

Variations and Tips and Tricks

  • Feel free to use any brand or flavor of hot chocolate mix in the hot chocolate bombs.
  • If you don’t get a clean edge, add sprinkles around where you seal your eggs, to hide the line.
  • Add in sprinkles, edible glitter, or other items into the bomb to add flavor and color.
  • You can use colored candy melts, white chocolate melts, etc. If you use classic chocolate you need to ensure you temper the chocolate or it will not work properly.

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup chocolate melting wafers
  • 8 Tbsp hot chocolate mix
  • Mini marshmallows
  • Small amount of white melting wafers to drizzle
  • Small Amount of Cotton Candy

Instructions

    1. Melt the chocolate in the microwave for 30 seconds. Stir well and heat again for another 30 seconds. Repeat until the melting wafers are completely melted. Be careful - do not overcook the chocolate.
    2. Add 2 tablespoons of chocolate to each mold. Make sure to completely cover the molds by using the back of the spoon to spread. Be certain to spread the chocolate evenly all the way up to the edges.
    3. Place the mold in the freezer for 10 to 15 minutes. You want your chocolate to be completely frozen.
    4. Carefully remove the chocolate half-spheres from the mold and place them on a baking sheet.
    5. Fill 3 of the half-spheres with hot chocolate mix. Add a few mini marshmallows into each of the half-spheres.
    6. Warm-up an empty plate by putting it in the microwave for 30 seconds. Place one of the empty chocolate sides on the warm plate to slightly melt the edges then quickly place it on top of the other side already filled with hot chocolate mix.  Repeat for the remaining pieces. You can use a bit of extra melted chocolate to “glue” the sides together if you need to.
    7. Melt the white chocolate (or chocolate) in the microwave for 30 seconds or until melted and drizzle it on the chocolate bombs.
    8. Garnish with the cotton candy.

Notes

To Serve
