Some homes can be sneaky. You could have a hole in the roof, a leak in the basement, and pests living in the walls without ever even knowing about them. And because of this possibility, it’s best to go round and see what hidden problems could be living in your home. The more organized you are right now, the longer your home is going to last! As such, here’s a little list of the most common and most problematic to keep an eye out for.

Hole in the Roof
Like we said above, a hole in the roof can soon become a very big problem if it’s left unchecked. A small rip or tear can soon turn into a huge gaping hole, and that can let in both sun and rain – both are bad for your home’s structural integrity. Either head up into the attic and look for internal issues with a flashlight, or get a ladder and check the exterior, or do both if your roof is over 10 years old.
Loose Doors
Loose doors can let in draughts, bugs, and all kinds of outdoor maladies. If you’re not constantly checking on your home’s insulation, it’s going to be hard to spot a loose door until it falls off! And this issue can be especially prevalent in the garage. You don’t tend to go in there as often as you use the other rooms in your home, so you might not spot it at all. But if you do, call in some professional garage door repairs. Not only is this a temperature issue, but it could soon turn into a security one as well.
Poor Heating
Heating issues can be extremely pervasive if you don’t see to them early on. Not only can heat and moisture linger in the air, but you might have an incredibly dry and cold home during the autumn and winter periods as well. Check on your system, make sure your pipes aren’t broken or rusty, and double check the settings on your central hub. If you’re ever in doubt as to how well your heating and/or air conditioning is performing, call someone out to take a look.
Damp Spots
A damp spot can turn into a long and patchy series of damp spots, that can also grow black mold. To make sure you’re aware of all the potential damp areas in your home, go around your floors and ceilings and check where the walls meet. Do you notice any wallpaper crimping? Or maybe paint flaking? Or even just a small patch of something that hasn’t been left behind by painting or poster tacking? All of these things could be signs of dampness you’ll want to get fixed straight away.
Problems hide in all our homes. Make sure you’re searching out the issues in yours for better home health. The more proactive you are over long term issues, the less money you’ll have to fork out to get them fixed!
